Ralph and Pastor Violet

Child Sponsorship Scheme

Pastor Violet also heads up the New Hope Grammar school, this is for young children and is based in the church building.  Some children are housed at the school, as parents can’t care for them. Sponsors are needed for some of these children, if you are interested please contact me.

History

Valleys of Hope had always worked just in Ethiopia, and although we were still giving support there, this was restricted, first by Covid19 and then by the civil war in Ethiopia.

Ralph was contacted by Pastor Violet Ssekite the Pastor of Friends of God Church, normally Ralph would ignore this but noticed she had a mutual friend in Jez Fage, who had been a missionary in Uganda. He knew Pastor Violet well, and encouraged Ralph to engage with her. The first support was given to feed people in their area at Christmas 2021.

Being unable to travel to Ethiopia because of the war, Ralph made his first visit to Uganda at Easter in 2023 where he spoke at a Pastor's Conference around starting small businesses, but also preached in churches and unexpectedly at another conference. During this visit he was introduced to Pastor Steven Kiberu and he preached at his church Gods Favour Community Worship Centre.  A relationship has also grown here.

So these are our two partners in Uganda, and several interesting projects have been started including organic farming and more recently a goat breeding programme.

Ralph’s  next planned visit is in March 2025 where he will be joined by a denominational leader from Ethiopia, Reverend Wagnew Andarge, as we seek to build a more local network.
